TaylorMade R11 Irons Review

The new TaylorMade R11 irons are some of the most popular clubs on the market.  Mostly because of the name but also because of a few new features TaylorMade has come up with.  One of the new features is a weight port that is used to achieve precise swingweights and CG locations in each iron. The set features compact short irons and long irons with wider soles.  Some of the quotes by club testers include,

When you’re getting close to single digits, this would be a club to look at. The balance and feel are beyond reproach.

The look transitions well from club to club. That’s comforting.

While we like the progressive variable-thickness design that features thinner faces in the long irons (to increase ball speed) and thicker faces in the short irons to promote control, we didn’t like how shiny the clubs were.  That actually is suprising considering how much effort TaylorMade put into reducing the glare in its woods.  Needless to say, the R11’s are very nice clubs and will help that mid to low handicap golfer who is looking to take a few strokes off of their game.
