Ping putters have a reputation for being some of the highest performing on the planet. Recently they released the Scottsdale series, which included the Anser Milled and Sydney putters. Now Ping is releasing a new member of the Scottsdale family, and they are calling it the Wolverine.
The Ping Scottsdale Wolverine has quickly become the industry leader in look, feel and sound. It is also one of the highest performing putters from 2011, and has been listed on Golf Digest’s 2011 Hot List Gold. It is highly innovative, as anyone who looks at the club itself can guess, but it also performs remarkably well.
The thermoplastic-elastomer insert is designed to produce a soft feel yet make the ball come off the face as fast as a steel-faced putter. With the Ping Scottsdale Wolverine putter even the colors are significant. The crimson, white and black alignment aid provides a lengthy, high-contrast sightline. All models are cast from 17-4 stainless steel and feature custom-fitting for shaft length, loft, lie angle and grip size.
Many people search for years trying to find the perfect putter, but many of them will end their search one they find the Wolverine. It has tremendous feel to it, and really makes the user feel like they are going to sink the putt. The insert plays soft yet firm, and overall the whole club is remarkably stable.
One of the downsides of the Ping Scottsdale Wolverine is the appearance. Even though it looks are sharp and unique, it can be distracting for some golfers. But if you’re able to get over the appearance, which is obviously the reason for the name ‘Wolverine,’ this can be one of the best putters you will ever use.
