Brooks Koepka is in prime spot to win the CJ Cup at Nine Bridges and take over number 1 in the World Golf Ranking. After firing a 5-under 67 on Saturday, he holds a 4-stroke lead over Scott Piercy and Ian Poulter. There are 6 other players 5-strokes behind Koepka.
Brooks is in line to pick up his 5th PGA Tour victory in his career. If he wins, it will be only his second non major victory. Brooks was not in the lead to start the day and opened with eight straight pars and birdied holes 9 and 10 to take the outright lead at 10-under par. He added three more birdies at 14, 17 and 18 to close out a bogey-free round of 5-under and take the 4-stroke lead.
Koepka will become number 1 in the World Golf Ranking if he wins the tournament or finishes solo second. If Justin Thomas comes back from down 12-strokes to win, he will take over the number 1 spot from Dustin Johnson.
