Padraig Harrington Makes Difficult Choice to Have Surgery After All

Padraig Harrington The Open

A few weeks ago, Padraig Harrington talked about his difficult dilemma – to have neck surgery or take his chances and keep playing through the nerve pain. The one factor making his decision so difficult was The Open, which looms a little over four months away.

Harrington has opted to go under the knife after all.

Her certainly seems in good spirits about it though, following up his announcement with this gem:

While it’s difficult to accurately project when and how Harrington will fully recover from such a serious procedure, it’s encouraging to see that he’s targeting May instead of mid-June, which was the timetable he discussed last month.

Hopefully the two-time winner of The Open will be pain-free and ready to go at Royal Birkdale come July.
