Muirfield, which is owned by the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, voted on Tuesday to not allow women members. The vote was met with harsh criticism and as a result the course was removed from the Open Championship rotation. Muirfield most recently held the Open Championship in 2013 where Phil Mickelson won his first British Open title.
