2016 Masters: Golf Tip from Danny Willett

This week’s learning moment is taken from Danny Willett’s drive on 18 during the final round of the Masters. Willett stepped up to the 18th tee with a three shot lead, knowing that a good drive in the fairway would all but seal his first green jacket. There are a couple of things that we can learn from his great drive at 18.

Tee it up on the same side as the trouble

As we can see in the video, Willett tees his ball up on the extreme right hand side because that is the side of trouble on the 18th hole at Augusta National. This is a great tip to use for anyone at home because it can help you make good decisions on tough driving holes. By teeing your ball up on the same side the trouble is on, it moves your focus to what your target is.

Use your go-to shot

Willett is mostly a straight ball hitter and that was what he went to when the pressure was on. Make sure you know what your go-to shot is and you can use it to fall back on whenever you need to come up with a clutch shot.
