As a fan of golf and a golf writer for basically the entire arc of Bubba Watson’s career, I’ve seen and heard some crazy things from the man with the pink driver — but Sunday’s ant argument takes the cake.
On the 5th hole during Sunday’s final round, Bubba sought relief from an ant hill — claiming it was made by a burrowing animal.
Seriously, this is must-see TV:
According to the rules of golf, you can get relief from a burrowing animal hole, but not from insects or bugs — despite Watson’s deft reasoning. Seriously, I’m jealous of the things Ted Scott must get to see and hear.
The lie didn’t seem to affect Bubba too much, however. He managed to make birdie on the hole amidst a pretty solid Sunday.
