This past weekend was the first inaugural International Crown Championship, where teams of LPGA players represented their home country in a tough weekend of golf. With strong contenders such as the United States and Republic of Korea in the running, it was quite a feat for Team Spain to come out on top!
Belen Mozo nailed her birdie putt on the Par 5 16th hole to defeat Thailand’s Moriya Jutanugarn and to seal the victory for Spain.
Mozo’s clutch birdie at the par-5 16th hole defeated Thailand’s Moriya Jutanugarn 3 and 2 to seal victory in the global showdown of eight four-woman teams.
“Damn, it feels good,” Mozo said. “I just wanted to close my match out. I had no idea. I’m thrilled I could do it.”
A rising star from Team Spain has to be Belen Mozo, who is famous for her body issue spread in ESPN the Magazine, but after this weekend’s success, should now be known for her tremendous golf skills as well. Mozo started playing golf at the age of 8 and credits her mom for success in her career. She won both the British Amateur Championship and British Girls Amateur Championship.
Mozo played collegiately at USC and then turned professional in 2010, where she has made a total of 30 cuts out of 41 events and a best finish of 5th at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship.
We’re looking for great things to come from Miss Mozo.
