Haas & Hoffman Tied for the Lead at Shell Houston Open: PGA Tour News

Bill Haas and Charley Hoffman shot seven under par, 65’s on Thursday to take the first round lead at the Golf Club of Houston in Humble, TX. Haas made six birdies, an eagle and one lone bogey to sit atop the crowded leader board.

Hoffman needs a win to get into the Masters next week. Five players shot six under par, 66’s and are just one shot back which include; Matt Kuchar, Keegan Bradley, J.B. Holmes, Erik Compton, and Jim Renner. Ten players are at five under par, just two back. There are another twenty guys tied at four under par. With thirty-seven players within three shots of the lead this should be an interesting round on Friday. Stay tuned here, we will have all your Shell Houston Open Coverage.

Fan favorite Phil Mickelson is one of the player’s three shots out of the lead. He shot a four under par, 68 on Thursday and so far has showed no signs of the back injury that forced him out last week.
