Cobra Bio Cell Irons Review: Quick Look

Cobra Golf has come out with the trademarked slogan of “Go Long” to go along with their release of their newest series of the clubs, the Bio Cell Irons and Woods.  The Bio Cell Irons are designed to give golfers distance and control without sacrificing forgiveness.

Jose Miraflor, Director of Product Marketing at COBRA Golf had this to say about the Bio Cell Irons.

“The blend of distance, control and forgiveness make the BiO CELL Irons an asset in anyone’s bag. Progressive placement of tungsten throughout the iron set drives the added distance, control and forgiveness.”

Looks:

With four color options, Silver, Blue Aster, Barbados Red and Vibrant Orange you will have plenty to choose from.  All of the colors look pretty sleek and go right along with the Cobra/Puma style.  The backing on the Bio Cell has quite a bit going on but it is all put there with a purpose.  The Tungsten Cell Weighting on the back of the Bio Cell irons help provide added distance and control.  The top view isn’t too thick but not too thin to provide a bit of confidence at address.

Tech Talk:

The New Bio Cell Irons have the tungsten centered weighting behind the club, a perimeter undercut, E9 Face Technology all which help to provide a low CG and high MOI.  The long and mid irons have a heavier tungsten in the heel and toe for even more forgiveness.  Short irons have the tungsten centered behind the hitting area for more distance and control.  The new perimeter undercut makes the Bio Cell Irons the largest unsupported face of any Cobra Iron. It is meant to create more face flex at impact for an increase in ball speed.

The BiO CELL 3-7 irons are a hyper 17-4 SS with tungsten weighting and the 8-LW are a 431 stainless steel with tungsten weighting.

The  COBRA BiO CELL Iron Set (Steel MAP: $699) features a True Temper Dynalite 85 shaft shaft and is available in stiff and regular flex in 3-LW in RH models and 3-SW in LH models. The BiO CELL Irons feature a Lamkin – R.E.L. 3GEN grip. Graphite irons are available through custom order and feature a COBRA BiO CELL shaft in stiff, regular or lite flexes.

The Cobra Bio Cell Irons will be available at retail on January 15th, 2014.

Recommended For:

I would recommend the Bio Cell Irons for golfers with handicaps ranging from 8-20.  The reason I include a handicap as low as 8 is for the fact that even someone at that level can benefit from added distance and forgiveness.  Also at that level you are either looking to maintain you level of play or even get a lower handicap.  A lot of golfers are fooled into thinking they need to hit the clubs the pros are hitting, even when they are not ready.  Don’t fool yourself and let technology be on your side out on the golf course.
