Finally the Golf Gods have allowed the Hyundai Tournament of Champions to get rolling. After a windy first round and not a lot of scoring, the second round moved forward. If you have not heard, the tournament has been shortened to 54 holes so tomorrow will be the finale.
Rickie Fowler started of round two looking good but ended up shooting a one over 74 and currently is tied for 10th along with John Huh and Johnson Wagner.
While Snedeker, Gainey and Bradley all played well today, it was definitely Bubba Watson, Steve Stricker and Dustin Johnson who stole the show. Watson shot a 4-under 69 and had some amazing shots including one from a fairway bunker where he landed the ball 2 feet from the hole for a birdie.
Stricker has started right where he left off last season. As I write this article, Stricker is 6-under on the day through 17 holes.
But the star of the Hyundai Tournament of Champions thus far is without a doubt Dustin Johnson. Johnson shot a first round 69 and followed it up with a 66 and is currently in the lead at 11-under. Johnson played the wind perfectly all day and looks to finish of the tournament tomorrow.
