PGA Tour regular Scott Verplank has waited two years before finally deciding to get surgery on his left wrist. The surgery will cost him about five months of time on the course.
Verplank's surgery took place last Friday in Cleveland, and will take about five months to completely rehabilitate. Verplank said that there were times when his wrist felt strong enough for golf, such as this year's PGA Championship when he was in contention on the back nine on Sunday, but at other times it was too weak to play.
"For three or four weeks, it was okay and I played good," Verplank stated. "The rest of the time, it was a massive struggle."
Any person with golfing experience knows how crucial the wrists are for a golf swing, so the fact that he was able to play at all with the injury is impressive.
Verplank expects to return early next season.
