The reigning champion of AT&T National did not live up to par in the first round at Aronimink Golf Club. Tiger Woods ended the opening round 3+ for the day and seven strokes back from the leaders.
It was a frustrating day for Woods but his putter seemed to give him the most trouble. He needed 30 putts to complete the round. It’s hard to think that the recent reports of his meeting with authorities to discuss the controversial Dr. Anthony Galea and a large divorce settlement with Elin Nordegren is not affecting his ability to concentrate and play up to expectations. Although his super human status has fallen since the Thanksgiving car accident and scandal that followed, he still was able to hit eight of 14 fairways on Thursday.
Understandably, this was only the first day but I am anticipating how his performance will play out on Friday.
