When Ping launched the Ping TiSI Driver, it caused a huge sensation and was quickly embraced by tour pros around the world. As everyone knows, it's hard to improve upon something that's already considered excellent, but Ping did just that when the subsequently rolled out the Ping TiSI Tec Driver.

The Ping TiSI Tec Driver improved upon the original Ping TiSI Driver in several very important ways. The first was by lengthening it. In fact, at the time, the Ping TiSI Tec Driver was the longest driver Ping had ever made. On top of that, a new production technique, known as chemical milling, made the driver's walls much stronger -- while at the same time making them much thinner. Borrowed from the aerospace industry, chemical milling allowed weight to be taken from the walls and redistributed in internal weight pads for an optimal spin rate on the golf ball. This, in turn, lead to major improvements in distance.
Another major aspect of the Ping TiSI Tec Driver's performance is the variable face thickness, which places more mass in a wide, central impact area. This leads to optimized performance. This is a technology that's patented by Ping, which developed it in the early 1990s.
The Ping TiSI Tec Driver also featured improved hosel development and design. A total of eight different variations let users take their performance to the next level by giving them more options as to the face angle and lie angle combination. This lead to a better and more confident swing, and at the end of the day, happier and more excited players.
The Ping TiSI Tec Driver also introduced an exciting new concept, discovered by Ping, of "effective trajectory." This is roughly the driver's loft at contact with the ball, which means that effective trajectory will be different from club's static loft.
