When Ping decides to improve on one of their products, you can be sure the outcome is going to be impressive. That's because Ping designs, develops and engineers their clubs to the nth degree, and the Ping G5 Irons were no different. In this instance they worked on the design of the sole as well as the tuning port in order to get higher launch and more forgiveness, as well as making some small tweaks to the overall design.
With the Ping G5 Irons, the head's center of gravity is lower and deeper than in other clubs. This ensures that the ball is going to launch higher, and it also makes improvements to the shot's accuracy. With the Ping G5 Irons, the custom tuning port was large and thin, which dampens vibrations. That's another important factor in controlling the ball. Working alongside the other aspects of the club head are the two uniform cavities, which give support to the face and are a big part in the movement of the weight to the perimeters.
