I have spent a lot of time discussing the increasing worth of hybrid clubs on the links. While in the past people would dismiss such a movement as nothing more than a fad, there is no doubt that this trend is here to stay - and for very good reason as well.

However, after giving this bad boy a try I learned that Mizuno has taken all the success of their forged irons and successfully transformed it into a workable hybrid club.

Performance is clearly the most important aspect of any club, and the MP-CLK certainly performed well. It is not the most forgiving hybrid on the market, but it doesn't have to be. Users looking for high levels of forgiveness usually know to steer clear of Mizuno clubs, so that shouldn't be much of a problem.

The Mizuno MP-CLK is one of the most workable and playable hybrids I have used, and is dangerous from almost any lie. It really is remarkable how much of a difference a club can make, and for an experienced player the MP-CLK is a solid choice. It takes a little time to get used to it, and might cause some frustration at the beginning. If you are able to persevere and work through the learning curve, the Mizuno MP-CLK hybrid can be a valuable addition to your game.

When it comes to selecting golf clubs, some introspection is in order. If practice is not part of your golf experience and you just want to play a weekend round from time to time, perhaps a game improvement iron is the way to go. However, if you are trying to get better or if you just enjoy hitting draws and fades to get around the course, there is no reason to deny yourself those experiences. It may cost you a stroke here and there, but in the end it might really help you improve your game.

One of the primary design goals of the MP-63 was to improve on the feel and playability of the MP-62. So they copied the head size, top line, offset, and sole width, and then set to tuning the sound and feel and enhancing the grind to improve the irons' versatility in shot making. The former involves the Harmonic Impact Technology, while the latter primarily has to do with the visible 360° grind on the trailing edge to improve turf interaction.

The MP-63s let you know where you are making contact. The fact that you don't have to be absolutely perfect to experience the feel of the sweet spot and see optimal results from the club was fairly unexpected for a Mizuno club. While better players will probably get more out of these than a bogey golfer would, don't dismiss any club simply because of who it's supposed to be for.
