    • ]]>     Many of the hybrids I have been reviewing recently are all part of a manufacturer's new series of clubs. I have had opportunities to look at drivers, woods, and even hybrids for many clubs of the same set. This is another example of this, as the Cleveland Launcher DST Hybrid represents the Launcher series from Cleveland that also has a driver and wood version. Cleveland took certain measures to make sure that this particular hybrid club was able to live up to the Launcher reputation that the driver and wood version had already achieved. After trying the club out on the course and examining the specifications and other user's submitted opinions I am very confident that it will carry the Launcher flag with plenty of flair.

    Street Price: $150

    When Cleveland first released the Launcher series they promoted it with the tags of lighter, faster, and longer. They tried to stick to this mantra with their Launcher DST Hybrid, which many people viewed as an incredible risk. However, this gamble seems to have paid off very well for Cleveland as the Launcher DST Hybrid is certainly pulling its weight in the world of hybrid clubs. It has an aggressive sound and very nice weight distribution throughout the club.

    Hybrid clubs are becoming more and more popular as the fairway woods begin to become more obsolete, and it is hybrids like the Cleveland Launcher DST that are making this statement a reality. The club is excellent from poor lies with its compact head and manageable sweet spot. In terms of performance, this is one of the highest rated clubs in its class. It is remarkably usable and has a great feeling upon impact. With the perfect sound and proper amount of feedback, the Cleveland Launcher DST Hybrid is working hard to make fairway woods extinct.

Cleveland was able to remarkably reduce the weight of the club to less than 300 grams, which is an astonishing feat indeed. This makes it almost ten percent lighter than most other companies traditional drivers. The great thing about the low weight is that the Cleveland Launcher DST doesn't sacrifice any power, and is more than able to live up to the name it was given. This baby is going to be light in your hands and powerful off the tee, making it truly a remarkable driver.

    The Cleveland Launcher DST has been described by many different people in many different ways, but my personal favorite was when this driver was compared to a rocket launcher. The brilliant imagery here is perfect, as the ball flies off the face of the club with such force it would seem almost like a weapon. Cleveland has really done their best to produce a technologically advanced club with the Launcher DST, as they have poured tons of engineering brilliance into it. Features such as the MaxCOR Face Technology help the club create a deeper center of gravity for a higher moment of inertia and straighter drives.

    Cleveland is not the first of the major golfing companies to take the low-weight driver approach, but they have taken it to a whole new level. The Launcher DST is the lightest driver on the market by a mile, and it is still the normal size of most average drivers. Cleveland's ability to keep the size level normal allows the club to produce the amount of power that it does, meaning that the light weight costs you zero power.

    The bottom line is that the Cleveland Launcher DST is a lightweight, powerhouse driver that is going to kick some major tail for you out on the course.

    • ]]>     The wedge is one of the most underrated clubs in the game of golf.  Rarely does it get the recognition it deserves, which is why companies like Cleveland do not receive necessary credit for manufacturing such fantastic products.  I have used a variety of Cleveland wedges in the past, and after using the CG11 I feel that this one is certainly going to stand up to the rest.  Whenever anybody asks me for a recommendation on any brand of wedge the result is usually Cleveland, and I am getting the impression that the CG11 is not going to force me to change my answer.

    One of my favorite aspects of the Cleveland CG11 is the overall feel of the club.  Cleveland introduced their CMM metal, which blends microscopic carbon spheres to help create a different metal that is much more solid than most clubs, yet the CG11 still feels like a normal club.  It's that old cliche you've heard a thousand times, the Cleveland CG11 gives you the best of both worlds.  This fancy scientific improvement is one of the strongest assets of this wedge, and many other Cleveland wedges as well, and gives the user a very comforting, solid feel at impact.

    Cleveland is not generally the type of brand that shows off fancy gizmos or designs.  While it is an innovative company, these are very traditional looking wedges.  The CG11 is a confident looking club that has a professional atmosphere about it, but more importantly it performs well.  As I mentioned before, it has a very solid feel to it, but it also gave me good amounts of feedback, which is something I prefer from a wedge.  Overall I would highly recommend the CG11 wedge, just as I would recommend almost any other wedge that comes from Cleveland's shelves.

    • ]]>     Cleveland Golf has developed a reputation as one of the best iron manufacturing companies on the planet, but for one reason or another hasn't received the global attention that they probably deserve.  Recently, with the release of the CG Red Irons they have given just one more reason to the golfing world as to why they deserve their attention.  Different from other manufacturers, Cleveland develops their irons with a different appearance and construction.  While many companies offer either triangular or square faced clubs, Cleveland is sticking with the swooped-back HiBORE model, which was frowned upon at first but then received rave reviews with the release of the HiBORE XL.  The Cleveland CG Red Irons, however, are a solid set of irons with positive specifications and impressive aesthetics.

    While the specifications are impressive, as I stated before, the aesthetics are my favorite part of this particular club.  The sparkling chrome completes a simple, yet elegant look that is both impressive and majestic.  The satin hitting area on the face of the club is another beautiful aspect of the Cleveland CG Red Irons, and make it one of the best looking irons on the market.

    The performance of the Cleveland CG Red Irons is almost as impressive as the way the clubs look.  This particular set of irons is going to appeal more to the better players, but that doesn't mean lesser skilled individuals should keep their distance from the CG Red Irons, but it certainly will appeal more to the higher skilled players.  Cleveland has included their Micro-Cavity Technology, which are small cavities underneath the topline of the club that allow the weight to be positioned elsewhere, this small yet useful design gives the user a much higher level of forgiveness on the court, and we all know how much that is appreciated.

    • ]]>     The HiBORE series of clubs has been making the rounds in the PGA Tour, improving the game of many professionals in many different tournaments.  The predecessor to the critically acclaimed XLS driver, the Cleveland HiBORE XL is a modernly shaped driver that gives the user plenty of power and strength.  This particular driver gets a lot of attention from the golfing public, generally because it was used by former PGA winner Vijay Singh, but also because of its technological innovation.  Cleveland has marketed the HiBORE XL driver as a type of club that is going to take distance driven geometry to the next level.

    A lot is always made out of the appearance of a club, and the Cleveland HiBORE XL driver is certainly a good looking piece of equipment.  It features a bullet-styled design that has been described as "swooped-back."  While the XLS is considered an upgrade over the XL, there is no question that this particular club is a significant step up from the even earlier model, the Cleveland HiBORE.  The XL features a precision cast aerospace-grade ultra-thin titanium alloy body with a high-grade titanium face.  It also follows the same general design as its predecessor, though the XL has a much deeper face.

    The look and feel of the Cleveland HiBORE XL driver is somewhat staggering at times.  The appearance is different from most standardized clubs, making the user somewhat uncomfortable when first using the club.  However, the performance and specifications of the HiBORE XL driver are certainly impressive, but my favorite aspect of this particular driver is the appearance.  While many traditionalists are going to frown towards the bullet-shaped clubhead, but I think it is a fabulously designed club that has a modernized look.  The overall looks and performance of the Cleveladn HiBORE XL driver are top-notch, and worth taking a shot on.

The technology used to develop these new wedges can give the user a club that can literally change the game with the amount of spin it provides. The Cleveland CG12 Zip Wedges are manufactured with a new design known as "Zip Grooves," which promise to add even more spin to your game, particularly your short shots. These "Zip Grooves" that are featured on the Cleveland CG12 wedges are much larger than standardized grooves, which allows more debris to be swept away, which then results in a cleaner contact that results in higher levels of spin. For a club that is supposed to maximize the amount of spin it produces, Cleveland has certainly given the CG12 Zip Wedges plenty of technology to achieve this goal.

    The Cleveland CG12 Zip Wedges, contrary to popular belief, is not a continuation from the CG11 series that Cleveland released earlier, and are in fact much different. The design and appearance of the CG12's are certainly different from many wedges from other manufacturers. Some golfers prefer the difference while others find it frustrating. Personally I have never been a huge fan of Cleveland wedges, but the CG12 is forcing me to reconsider, at least temporarily.

    Cleveland has manufactured the CG12 Zip Wedges with a bit of a rounder look, similar to the rest of their wedges, but in this case it is not nearly as extreme. This particular club looks more like the types of wedges you see from developers such as Titleist or TaylorMade, and is not the typical Cleveland wedge. I am one who appreciates this apparent nod towards change, as the Cleveland wedges in the past have not been my favorite. The Cleveland CG12 Zip Wedge is a solid choice that will provide plenty of spin and control for any user looking to maximize their game.
