Cold Weather Golf: Tell Us Your Story

World Golf Championships - Accenture Match Play Championship - Round One

url-5With the recent snow delay in Arizona we thought it would be fun to see what the coldest round of golf all of you have ever played in.  My personal coldest round of golf was actually this year.  I hit the course with our Golf Pro Bill Ranson and our Founder Gary Lee in near freezing temperatures.  We stepped out on the course with gloves, 4 layers of clothing and two pairs of socks, well at least I did.  I'm a sissy when it comes to the cold.  Bill was a little more hard core and only had a shirt and a pullover on.  Bill of course had to make fun of me for my two pairs of socks and multiple layered clothing. (Appreciate the love Bill)

Match Play GolfThe round started off with a temperature of 35 degrees.  There was ice on the grass still from the morning dew freezing over night.  I could hear the crunch of my shoes as I walked to the first tee.  Of course we arrived a little late for our round so we didn't get a chance to warm up at the range.  I took several practice swings in attempts to get my stiff muscles loosened up.  As I stepped to my ball, I quickly realized that my body did not want to participate in such actions.  With the 4 layers and the stiffness of my body, I could tell that I would not be able to fully extend with my normal driver swing.  I inched forward slightly to make up for my lack of reach.  As I started my takeaway I felt myself not being able to fully come back as far as I would like.  In attempts to paint the picture of how this swing and hit off the first tee concluded and not make myself look too bad, let's just say Ken Griffey Jr. was focusing in on my fly ball.

We all had a great laugh as we moved forward on the ice covered grass to find our balls.  Needless to say, the round warmed up by about the seventh hole to about 40 degrees, just in time for me to takeover at the turn. Ok, not so much.

On our Facebook page and Twitter I have seen where some of you have golfed in degrees as low as -10 degrees.  Being a Southern California resident my entire life, I am thoroughly confused on how that would actually work out.

url-6We want to hear from all of our readers below.  Tell us what is the coldest temperature you have golfed in.  Tell us about your coldest golf experience.  By telling us your story you may win a pair of Nike Golf cold weather gloves.  Remember, the more you get involved with Bunkers Paradise, the more we will get involved with you..... Hint Hint GIVEAWAYS!!!
