The Cleveland Mashie Hybrid is built with the same "lighter, longer" mantra as the rest of Cleveland's metalwood line. The Mashie Hybrid features a super-lightweight Miyazaki shaft that's one-fourth of an inch longer than standard. The reason for the longer shaft is to help players increase the speed of the clubhead. The Cleveland Mashie Hybrid also features two sole rails to help reduce turf interaction and make the club more playable from some of the tougher lies.
One of the things that isn't remarkably popular about the Cleveland Mashie Hybrid is the appearance. It almost looks like an unfinished club, but it certainly doesn't perform like one. It was named to the Silver Selection on Golf Digest's 2011 Hot List, and has been praised for its innovation and performance.
