When I first came across the Callaway X-Tour Forged Wedge I immediately felt it was a blend between old and new. My second thought was that I was surprised to see such a wedge from Callaway, a company not generally known for their expertise with wedges. However, Callaway recently brought in club designer Roger Cleveland to help advance their wedge designs, and that is certainly what he has done. The Callaway X-Tour Forged Wedge is a traditionally designed wedge that adds modern flair and performance. These particular wedges contain more of a square look than the previous wedges Callaway designed, which is something that I personally was very attracted to.

Like I stated above, the previous Callaway wedges seemed forced and much different from the X-Tour Forged Wedge. When I first used the X-Tour, I noticed right away that they have gone away from the swooping, rounded teardrop look that they used to use so frequently. Callaway has given the user the option of two separate finishes for the X-Tour, the Satin Chrome and a Vintage finish. The first is a very rich-looking, polished, chrome finish that is less prone to glare than its counterpart. The Vintage finish features a much darker, non-reflective finish that eventually will wear off and rust over.
While the appearance of the Callaway X-Tour Forged Wedge is subject to change, the performance will not. This club is a solid addition to Callaway's tradition of excellence, and they have certainly gained ground in the race to produce a high quality wedge. It is a fairly playable club that I found favorable to my style of play. It does tend to give extra amounts of spin, but whether that is good or bad will depend on the individual.
