Callaway, one of the most prestigious names in golf, has released two new model drivers to the public that are causing quite a stir amongst users. They utilize the companies trademarked Fusion multimaterial technology, but other than that are two violently different clubs. The FT-i, where the i stands for inertia, is a more aggressively shaped club, whereas the FT-5 is a revolutionized update to the FT-3 driver. Both the clubs, however, are beautifully constructed and designed, which results in higher performance for each club. One of the other main differences between the FT-1 and the FT-5 are the construction of the face, as the FT-i has a slightly deeper and more narrow hitting area than its FT-5 counterpart.

While the performance of the two clubs definitely differs, much of this has to do with the overall construction of each club. While I mentioned some of the physical differences earlier in the review, that is certainly not the extent of the differences between the FT-i and FT-5 drivers. Callaway has given the FT-i an unusually square design, but it is a relatively easy setup for any user. The FT-5 is going to be much more user friendly, and provides the user with a much cleaner and less complicated approach to hitting the ball. From every angle the FT-i looks much more unique, whereas the appearance of the FT-5 is a much more traditional look that most golfers will be more accustomed to.
As I stated before, the FT-5 looks significantly larger than the FT-i, but in reality the clubheads both have the same volume. The FT-5 also has a wider face area and a shorter body, two significant differences from the FT-i. Both drivers, however, feature a dashing flash of red on the sole, and a little bit of aluminum for added durability. Overall, both these clubs, although different, give positive performances on the course, and that is all that matters.
