Bunker’s Bio: Graeme McDowell

Coming off his tournament-winning putt at the Ryder Cup, Graeme McDowell is one of the biggest names in the sport. Pair that with his win at the 2010 US Open, and McDowell is rapidly becoming one the best young players on the Tour today.

After accepting a golfing scholarship that allowed him to move to the United States and polish his game, McDowell joined the professional tour in 2002. His first and so-far only Major championship victory came at the 2010 US Open, where he defeated a tough field at Pebble Beach to become the first European winner since 1970 (Tony Jacklin).

McDowell has used Callaway clubs in 2010, which thus far has been his best year as a professional. His driver of choice for his US Open victory was the Callaway FT Tour Driver, with a Callaway Diablo Tour Edge Fairway as another solid contributor in his bag.

However, when it comes to the short game McDowell uses a different brand of putter. While on the green, McDowell utilizes his Odyssey Black Series #7 Putter. He also uses the Callaway X-Forged series of irons, which have served him very well in his impressive 2010 season.

Overall, Graeme McDowell is one of the most exciting up-and-coming golfers on the PGA Tour. With some of the veterans becoming increasingly inconsistent (Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, etc.), players like McDowell may be the face of the tour for years to come.
