Masters week is certainly off to an eventful start, but the news is not good for World No. 1, Dustin Johnson.  According to his manager, David Winkle, Johnson fell on a staircase at his rental home in Augusta and landed on his lower back and elbows.

Here are more details from an email Winkle wrote (via ESPN):

“He landed very hard on his lower back and is now resting, although quite uncomfortably. He has been advised to remain immobile and begin a regiment of anti-inflammatory medication and icing, with the hope of being able to play tomorrow.”

If Johnson misses The Masters, it would be a big blow to his season at least from the standpoint that he’s just been on a roll in 2017. His absence would also be unfortunate for fans who want to watch the world’s best all compete for the legendary green jacket. Hopefully he will be able to play and up to his standards at that.

As for the popular Par 3 tournament, it was unfortunately canceled due to severe weather and tornado warnings. The tournament itself is expected to have strong winds on Thursday and Friday, but better conditions during the weekend.
