Bushnell Tour Z6 Jolt Rangefinder Review: Lock onto Flag with Lightning Speed

So your standing out in the fairway and you are looking around for a sprinkler head with yardage or anything that can give you a clue to how far you have to the green. Sometimes you find what you are looking for and you give it that,  ‘There is no way I am that far from the green’ scrunched up face.

There are many products out there to help you hone in on the exact yardage you are away from the green without roaming the fairway in a futile search for something that may or may not be accurate. Why waste that time when you can have in the palm of your hand a device that will give you exact yardage to the pin–not the middle, not the front, not the back–but the absolute distance to the pin.

One such product came to the Bunkers Paradise testing center that can alleviate any doubt on the precise distance from where you stand to the pin on the green–The Bushnell Tour Z6 Jolt Laser Rangefinder. Bushnell is the #1 Laser Rangefinder on tour and now they have done it again with an amazing piece of GPS equipment that takes all the guessing out.

The Bushnell Tour Z6 Jolt Laser Rangefinder has come to market with impressive results. Those results are due to a new technology that eliminates any doubt you are locked into the flagstick and it is down in lightning speed.  So let’s jump into this review of the new Bushnell Golf Tour Z6 Jolt Rangefinder.

Bushness Technology

The Tour Z6 Jolt emits invisible, eye safe, infrared energy pulses–vibrating bursts to reinforce the laser has locked on the flag–Pinseeker JOLT Tecnholgy.  The Tour Z6 Jolt Advanced digital microprocessor and ASIC chip (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) results in instantaneous and accurate readings every time. It can acquire flags up to 450yds away with extreme speed and accuracy.

Add to that the unmatched precision of Second Generation E.S.P. (Extreme. Speed. Precision), and the clarity of VDT (Vivid Display Technology), and you have the world’s most technologically advanced laser in the palm of your hand.

No wonder Bushnell is #1 in the world when it comes to Laser Rangefinders. I am not really keen or used to using a GPS Rangefinder device that you hold in your hand. I am the old school player that utilizes the ‘leg and step off’ technology. However, after opening the case and placing the very compact Bushnell Tour Z6 in my hand, it was the beginning of a great relationship.

The sleek modern look was especially appealing. I am one for owning something that looks good and performs and this did both…it was small and compact and felt great in my hands. It was easy on the eyes too…didn’t have to take my sunglasses off to try to ‘see’ the readout.

The rubber armored metal housing is very gripping in the hand. I feel there is no way I am going to drop this ‘bad boy’ in any kind of weather. The fact that you have a zippered case to keep it safe between shots is an added bonus and very easy to get the Bushnell Tour Z6 out and set to laser your flag.

Overall the look and feel were in perfect harmony. Bushnell did good.

With the first zeroed in view, I was amazed how accurate. I pulled my Bushnell Tour Z6 out and ‘zapped’ my flag stick with ease and the yardage was dead on. I tried if from the trees, from across a pond…I tried every angle I could to catch it in a lie and it told the truth every time (sometimes I wished it would have told me I was a lot closer…wishful thinking after an unfortunate shot).

I had a couple of my playing partners give it a try with no explanation on how to use it and they nailed it on the first go. We all liked the display and felt it was dead on giving us the information we needed in a very easy to read fashion. I found that regardless, you were able to read the red display easily in the mid-day bright sun, in the shadows of trees and at dusk.

What really took me by surprise was the speed and vibrating JOLT you get when you lock on to your target. With the little vibration, you are confident you have your target locked in and there is no need to question or think to keep trying to ‘laser’ it over and over to be sure you have the right yardage like some other GPS devices.

The overall performance was top notch and again, I can see why Bushnell stands at the #1 spot in Laser Rangefinders. The Bushnell Tour Z6 JOLT is amazing, accurate and gives you the golfer confidence in the yardage from where you stand.

Bushnell Tour Z6 JOLT has a lot of PROS from its accuracy, durability and ease of use. The vibration you receive once you have locked on to the flag is a huge PRO because you are confident in the yardage and can select your club and execute your shot without any second guessing.

One potential CON could be the time it takes to get it into your hands, laser target and then put it away before you hit. Over 18 holes it adds up, but not significant. And if by some chance you have had way too much coffee, you will find that it takes a bit more effort to lock into the target…I know this one! Again, it is not significant.

Final Thoughts

Overall I loved the look, feel and performance of the Bushnell Tour Z6 Laser Rangefinder and was amazed at its lightning speed getting the yardage to you. The JOLT ‘vibration’ you get is one big confidence booster knowing you have the exact yardage you need and it’s simply go time for your shot.

Bushnell comes through again and again raising the bar for all other GPS Laser Rangefinders to chase. Well done Bushnell, well done.
