Well it didn’t take long to have the 2014 season’s first multiple tournament winner. Jimmy Walker held off Chris Kirk to win for the second time in six tournaments.
Walker seemed to be in trouble on 14. He left himself a 12 foot par putt, but on days like this those don’t matter. He drained the 12-footer, and that seemed to be the match that started the fire. He went on to birdie the next three holes, before parring the 18th to finish with a 63 and become this season’s multi-tournament winner.
Chris Kirk began the day with a one stroke lead. He was probably the most consistent golfer of he weekend, but just not good enough to hold off Walker. He gave himself a chance, leaving himself a chip for eagle on 18. He ran that by but made the birdie to finish second.
It took Walker 187 tournaments to get his first win. It seems as though he has gotten the hang of winning. He is 1st in the FedEx Cup standings, although it is very early in the season. He is also 1st in the Ryder Cup standings. We’ll see if he can keep the momentum for the rest of the 2014 season.
