Top 5 Drivers of 2013 | One Man’s View

I have had the opportunity to hit a lot of golf clubs in 2013.  Some blew my mind away with power and forgiveness, while others didn’t live up to the hype.  Here is my personal list of the Top 5 Drivers of 2013.  I’m sure some of you might disagree with me on some of my picks, but remember that our games are all different.  My favorites might be someone else’s lease favorite.  So go out and make sure you try them for yourselves.

I am listing these in no particular order as I found it very difficult to rank them from top to bottom.  For more details on each driver click on the name.

Top 5:

Cleveland XL Custom Classic Driver

Quote from our Review –

With many great drivers on the market for 2013, I put the Cleveland Classic XL Custom Driver right at the top.  For now, this club will remain in my bag because of it’s great feel, deep face for a great ball flight, it’s forgiveness and distance.

Cobra AMP Cell

Quote from our Review –

I along with many others on our staff enjoy hitting the AMP Cell driver not only because it has a great look but also because the ball really does fly off the face giving you good distance.

Ping G25

Quote form our Review –

I thought the ball came off the face really hot and although mishits were not punished too much it still gave feedback. It is definitely up there in distance with any of the new drivers this year.

Nike VRS Covert Tour

Quote from our Review –

It’s not hard to like this driver. From the deep red color and traditional 430cc head shape to the full independent loft/face angle adjustability Nike has improved on the well liked VR Pro limited from last year.

Titleiest 913 D2

Quote from our Review –

The 913 D2 460 cc feels exceptional due to a forged face insert. They have also improved the cg location and have an additional rear weight added to lower spin, improve launch, and forgiveness.

Honorable Mentions:

Bombtech Grenade

Quote from our Review –

In the end, just because this club doesn’t carry a big name does not mean it has to be overlooked.  The Grenade has a great looking design and even better results that cannot be dismissed.

TaylorMade R1

Quote from our Review –

With the R1 set at neutral, I was readily able to hit the ball with a draw (my preferred flight) or a fade. Oh yes, and did I mention that it hits the ball miles?

Mizuno JPX-825

Quote from our Review –

Mizuno has done it again, creating a beautiful driver that looks strong and forgiving at address.  With the triangular shaped head you can’t help but feel confident standing over the JPX-825.

Callaway X-Hot Driver

Quote from our Review –

The Callaway X-Hot is a lightweight, powerful driver that is very long.  The X-Hot also has great forgiveness for those mis-hits that are bound to happen from time to time.
